Kentucky reports 456 new COVID-19 cases, three new deaths on Sunday

Kentucky reported 456 new cases Sunday of COVID-19, along with three new deaths.

The newly reported cases bring the state’s total up to 66,491 cases since the outbreak began, according to the office of Gov. Andy Beshear. Of the new cases Sunday, 60 were in children under the age of 18.

“We know we must do better if we want to continue on the path toward regaining the parts of our lives that have been on hold,” Beshear said in his release Sunday. “If we want to protect each other and our economy, if we want to get our kids back to school, the message is clear for Team Kentucky: Wear a mask, maintain social distance, wash your hands regularly and avoid crowds.”

The deaths reported Sunday include an 81-year-old woman from Fayette County, an 87-year-old man from Kenton County and a 97-year-old woman from Bell County, according to Beshear’s office. The new deaths bring the state’s total to 1,157 COVID-19 fatalities since the outbreak began.

Because of limited reporting on Sunday, some data, like positivity rate, will not be available until Monday.
