Lexington's skyline is dotted with large cranes these days, as several construction projects are underway.

Two of those cranes are being used to build a new Hub on Campus Lexington, a five-story luxury apartment complex with retail space that will include a Target on Jersey Street.

The University of Kentucky and Core Spaces, a private developer who is building the apartment complex, which is expected to be completed by summer 2019, agreed to a land swap.

UK gave up a 112-spot parking lot on Jersey Street and in return, UK received two parcels of land on Winslow Street between South Lime and South Upper streets, where the former Kennedy’s Wildcat Den and a former Fazoli’s restaurant sit.

Two large cranes are also being used in the construction of City Center, formerly CentrePointe, in a block of downtown Lexington.

Target released renderings of its new small format store near the University of Kentucky. The 20,000 square foot store will be on the ground floor of the new Core Spaces building on Upper and Pine streets. It is set to open in 2019.
