A man died in a crash that shut down Old Frankfort Pike for several hours Friday night.

Lexington police said the man, identified by the Fayette County coroner’s office as Alfredo Najera, 56, was inbound on Old Frankfort Pike near the Woodford County line when he hit a fence.

The coroner’s office said Najera was pronounced dead at 6:05 p.m. as a result of blunt force head trauma.

Old Frankfort was shut down between South Yarnallton Pike and Redd Road while police investigated.

Police were called to the scene at about 5:15 p.m.
