Who left 17 guitars and 17 ukuleles at a Lexington school? The Wooks and Can’d Aid.

Students at Lexington’s Julius Marks Elementary School Thursday received 17 guitars, 17 ukuleles, one guitar for special needs students, picks and a double stack guitar rack from The Wooks and the Can’d Aid Foundation who makes similar donations across the nation.

The Wooks , a Kentucky rhythm and Bluegrass band, sang songs, answered questions and hosted a music workshop with the kids.

The local donation comes ahead of The Wooks album release party at 8 p.m. Friday at the Red Mile in Lexington.

Can’d Aid has donated nearly 950 instruments to elementary students across the nation, according to a news release.
