Man killed in Harrodsburg Road apartment complex on night before Thanksgiving
A man was charged with murder Wednesday night after allegedly shooting his neighbor in the Spanish Trace Apartments on Harrodsburg Road, police said.
The Lexington Police Department arrested Terrence Fister, 58, on Wednesday after officers were dispatched to the apartment complex shortly after 8:30 p.m.
When they arrived, they found Robert Cole Smith, 37, with a gunshot wound. Smith was taken to the hospital where he later died.
There had been a “disorder” in the apartment complex before the shooting, police said without providing details. As Smith was coming down the stairwell, Fister opened his door and fired a single shot.
Fister stayed at the scene and was taken into custody. Smith’s death is the 24th homicide in Lexington in 2019.
