Power restored after outage in part of north Lexington Sunday morning

Miami Herald File

A section of north Lexington was hit by a power outage Sunday morning, according to Kentucky Utilities.

A little after 10:30 a.m., the KU outage map showed about 1,000 customers were affected. Power to the homes and intersections in the area was restored by Sunday afternoon, according to police.

The Lexington Police Department said Sunday morning that it was responding to the outage, which caused several traffic lights to go out. Officers were manning several priority intersections, but some are still unattended, police said in a new release.

According to police, the outage affected Newtown Pike from 4th Street to the interstate. New Circle Road from Boardwalk to North Limestone was also affected.

While the power was out, police reminded drivers to treat the affected intersection as a four-way stop.
