Kristen Pflum, who anchored the Fox 56 10 p.m. news with Marvin Bartlett, said she is leaving the station and taking a new position that will allow her to spend more time with her family.

Friday night’s newscast was the last for Lexington news anchor Kristen Pflum.

Pflum announced in social media posts that she is leaving her anchor position at Fox 56, where she co-anchored the 10 p.m. news with Marvin Bartlett, to take a new job that will allow her to spend more time with her family. She said she’ll continue to do Bluegrass Crime Stoppers reports for Fox 56.

“After 18 years in TV, I’ve decided to step away from the career I love and give that time to my boys and husband,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “BUT, I’m not totally going away from FOX. The stars have aligned for me once again (much like they did when we moved back from Chicago in 2019) and I get to embark on a new journey as the Media Relations Manager for Dinsmore & Shohl working out of their Lexington office, while also carrying on with my labor of love... Bluegrass Crime Stoppers. You can still find my reports Tuesday nights at 10pm (although they’ll be taped because I’ll probably be in bed.”

Pflum has co-anchored the 10 p.m. newscast at WDKY since 2019, when she returned to Lexington after a three-year stint at FOX 32 in Chicago. Prior to that, she spent about 11 years at LEX 18.

Fox announced earlier this week that it is adding a 7 p.m. newscast to its lineup starting Monday. The additional half-hour will be anchored by Emani Payne, who co-anchors FOX 56 News at 6:30 p.m. with Bartlett.
