Fayette County teenager dies in crash on I-64 in Central Kentucky

A 16-year-old from Fayette County died in a car crash Sunday, according to Kentucky State Police.

The crash happened shortly after 11 a.m. on I-64 at the 59-mile marker in Franklin County. KSP said a Toyota Highlander and Toyota Corolla collided, and the Highlander struck a rock embankment.

The teenager was ejected from the vehicle, according to KSP. He was transported to the Frankfort Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Joshua Ragland. The coroner’s office said Ragland’s injuries were consistent with the crash and an autopsy is being performed Monday.

No other details about the teenager or the crash have been released.

The teenager’s next of kin have been notified, according to KSP. An investigation into the wreck is still ongoing.
