Eight people displaced by house fire in Lexington, fire department says

Eight people were displaced after a fire damaged a home in Lexington on Monday, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

The fire happened around 4:43 p.m. at 2345 Geranium Lane. The fire department said flames were not visibly coming from the home when they arrived, but after entering the house, they found heavy smoke and high heat.

Officials upgraded the incident to a working structure fire. The fire department located a fire in the kitchen, which was extinguished.

No injuries were reported. The eight displaced included two adults and six children, the fire department said.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
