One man died and another was injured in a car wreck in Boyle County on Sunday morning, according to Kentucky State Police.

Hector Sanchez, 55 of Burgin, was driving south on Shakertown Road (KY-33) around 11 a.m. when two wheels of his car veered off the road. He attempted to regain control of the car, crossing into the northbound lane and colliding with a car in that lane, KSP said.

Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene. Ernest Robinson, 67 of McKee, was driving the vehicle in the northbound lane and was transported to UK Chandler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The road was closed between Hughley Lane and Faulkner Road for several hours on Sunday during KSP’s investigation, which is ongoing. Along with KSP, the Boyle County Sheriffs Department, Boyle County EMS, Boyle County Fire Department, Mercer County Sheriffs Department and Boyle County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
