A section of South Broadway in Lexington has been blocked off until further notice due to a water main break.

Repairs are taking place between Waller Avenue and Red Mile Road. The Lexington Management Center said some local traffic is being allowed inside the work zone, but most of the traffic is being diverted.

The road is expected to be closed until 8 p.m. or 9 p.m., according to the traffic management center.

It’s unknown what caused the water main break. Susan Lancho, a spokesperson for Kentucky American Water, said crews are at the scene to make the repair.

This is a developing story.
