A Kentucky State Police trooper collided with a driver who ran a red light Thursday morning in Madison County, according to the agency.

The collision happened just before 7:15 a.m. on US-25 near the Interstate 75 exit 90 overpass in Madison County. State police said trooper Albert LaGrange was driving his cruiser west on US-25 when he hit Taijua Robinson, 24, of Richmond, who was coming from the opposite direction and attempting to turn on to the interstate.

Investigators reviews video footage, which showed that LaGrange had a green light and Robinson disregarded the stoplight, according to state police. Both LaGrange and Robinson were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The collision is being investigated by Det. Tyler Holt.

The overpass was shut down for a few hours Thursday morning while officials investigated. At 10:54 a.m. the Richmond Police Department reported the road had been reopened.
