The Lexington Recycle Center on Thompson Road will be shut down Friday, March 27, and Monday, March 30, because of an equipment failure.

The piece needed to repair the equipment is expected to be delivered and installed in time for recycling collection on Tuesday, March 31.

Lexington officials are asking residents with Friday or Monday curbside waste collection to not put blue recycling carts on the curb.

Recyclables set on the curb may have to be landfilled since there is no storage space at the Lexington Recycle Center.

City officials will provide an update if the timeline for reopening changes.
