The Lexington Police Department said it worked with multiple other agencies to seize 47 kilograms of cocaine last week.

Four people were arrested, the police department said in a social media post Saturday.

The drugs were valued at more than $2 million, the Nicholasville Police Department said in a social media post Tuesday.

“Overnight, couriers were taken into custody in the area of Man o’ War Boulevard and Boston Road in Lexington,” Nicholasville police said in the post. “Additionally, a search warrant was executed at the Hampton Inn on East Brannon Road in Nicholasville.”

The department said the bust “was the product of an extensive investigation that required months of surveillance and intelligence gathering.

“The focus of these efforts has been a fentanyl and cocaine trafficking organization emanating from Mexico.”

Lexington police said they worked with the Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations and Kentucky State Police on the investigation.

The Louisville DEA office said a gun and $15,000 in cash was also seized as part of the operation.
