Kentucky teens injured in serious crash named prom king and queen
The Fleming County High School 2026 prom king and queen were photographed at the prom in wheelchairs as they recover from a serious accident in late March.
Megan Edmond and her boyfriend, Brady Applegate, “were honored by their peers as this year’s homecoming queen and king at FCHS,” Megan’s mother Stephanie Edmond said about the May 2 event.
“Megan and her family want to express their deep gratitude to the community, school, friends, family members, and even strangers who have offered support and prayers throughout their recoveries,” Edmond said.
“While Megan continues to make progress, she still has a long road ahead in her recovery. Continued prayers are greatly appreciated.”
Megan and Brady were among four high school students hurt in a crash on Highway 11/Maysville Road near Mt. Gilead Road in Mason County in late March.
Megan, 17, a senior at Fleming County, was flown to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.
She suffered two broken legs, a shattered pelvis and internal injuries.
“Megan has been healing at home with the help of home health nursing and in home therapy,” said her uncle John Sims Jr., who is also Fleming County’s judge-executive. “She will remain confined to the wheelchair and non-weight bearing until the middle of June. She continues to have 8 different specialty doctors on her care team.”
