Family seeks help finding Lexington teen missing since Wednesday
The family of a missing 18-year-old Lexington high school student is asking the public for help finding her.
Ghadeer Alnaseeraldin has been missing since Wednesday, her 18th birthday, when her father, Maithim Aal Nasseeruldeen, said she left home to get on the school bus.
“She said goodbye,” he said. “They say she never arrived, and she never came on the bus.”
She was last seen in the 3600 block of Winthrop Drive.
The Lexington Police Department said in a statement Saturday that “the preliminary investigation suggests Ms. Alnaseeraldin left on her own.”
Alnaseeraldin is a senior at Lafayette High School and is just weeks away from graduation, her father said. He said she “wants to go to BCTC for nursing” and was excited to celebrate her birthday with cake.
“I wish, I hope, but I don’t have any idea,” he said when asked if he has any idea what might have happened to Alnaseeraldin, or where she might be.
He said the family just wants to know she’s safe.
“We worry about her,” he said.
Alnaseeraldin’s parents have made posts on social media asking the public to be on the lookout for her.
Her mother, Haneen Abdulkhudhur, wrote on the Nextdoor platform that the family believes she is in danger.
“We need to spread the word,” she wrote.
They asked anyone who knows where Alnaseeraldin is to contact the Lexington Police Department.
Police ask anyone with information about her whereabouts to call 859-258-3600 or submit an anonymous tip to Bluegrass Crime Stoppers by calling 859-253-2020, visiting Bluegrasscrimestoppers.com or using the P3 Tips app at P3tips.com.
