An electrical fire at a Lexington TV station has knocked two news stations off-air, according to LEX 18.

The Lexington Fire Department said it responded to WTVQ’s news station on Man o’ War Boulevard at 8:56 a.m. after receiving a report of a structure fire. Firefighters found a fire in an electrical panel, extinguished the flames and ventilated the building.

LEX 18 reported the fire forced WTVQ employees to evacuate the building. It also knocked LEX 18 and WTVQ off-air due to the damage.

The two news stations share transmitter equipment, according to LEX 18, which is why both stations are impacted by the fire. LEX 18 said its programming can be viewed on cable and satellite, but WTVQ will be off-air until the issue is fixed.

The fire department said an investigator is working to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported.
