Fire damages three-story apartment building in downtown Lexington
Fire damaged a three-story apartment building on East High Street in downtown Lexington on Saturday evening.
The Lexington Fire Department was called to the apartment building at 280 E. High St. at 5:53 p.m. and arrived at 5:54 p.m.
Officials said the fire was contained to one unit on the third floor, and there was no one inside at the time.
It was not immediately known how many people would be displaced.
The building, which has a stone carving labeling it Preston Arms, sits near the intersection of High and Rose.
High Street was closed near the scene while crews worked.
