Officials have reopened a major road in northern Lexington after cleaning up a fuel spill from a tractor-trailer collision, according to the Lexington Police Department.

The collision happened around 6:30 a.m. on outbound Newtown Pike, just past Nandino Boulevard, said Lexington police Lt. Jeff Howard. The Lexington Fire Department said a tractor-trailer hit a guard rail and caught fire.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters, and no injuries were reported, according to Howard.

Outbound Newtown Pike between Nandino Boulevard and Citation Boulevard was closed for several hours while officials cleaned up a fluid spill from the tractor-trailer, Howard said.

The fire department said diesel fuel spilled from the tractor-trailer. At 12:45 p.m., police said the road had reopened.
