A horse that fell through a trailer floor on Interstate 75 needed first responder help but is OK, the Brodhead Fire Department said in a Facebook post.

According to a Facebook post from the Brodhead Fire Department, large animal rescue technicians were requested at around 5:30 p.m. Thursday when the horse fell through the trailer and got partially stuck. Crews found the house with its leg trapped under the trailer because of a large gap created from the trailer floor dislodging.

The Mount Vernon Fire Department also responded.

A local veterinarian helped sedate the horse while the leg was freed, and the horse was taken to Rock Vet Animal Hospital and later released to its owner.

“We would like to thank Rock Vet for a rapid response and excellent care for the animal,” the Facebook post read. “Once the animal was safe, firefighters used plywood from our collapse trailer to secure the floor.”
