An LEX 18 news reporter who has spent years in Lexington will leave later this month after accepting a job with a new TV station in Cincnnati.

Megan Mannering, LEX 18’s evening anchor and reporter, announced on Facebook that she will be leaving the news station at the end of July. She has been hired as weekend co-anchor and a weekday reporter for WLWT in Cincinnati.

“I’ll have plenty more to say about the people who made Kentucky feel like home, but I’m saving the sappy posts for my final week,” Mannering said in a Facebook post. “For now, I’m just feeling incredibly grateful for the last four years and all the memories that came with them.”

Mannering joined LEX 18 in 2022 as a weekend anchor, but has recently been anchoring the news station’s weekday evening newscasts. She also co-hosts LEX 18’s original podcast “Hot Mic” with Evelyn Schultz.

Mannering isn’t expected to start appearing with WLWT until September, according to the Cincinnati news station. She will co-anchor alongside Aaron Thomas.

“We are excited to have Megan join the WLWT News 5 team,” WLWT News Director Jeff Benscoter said in a statement. “Her experience reporting on the biggest stories across the region, including devastating floods, tornadoes, and the UPS plane crash in Kentucky, has prepared her to lead the way on coverage of major stories in Greater Cincinnati.”

Mannering started her career in Missoula, Montana, where she worked for three years. She is originally from Indiana and graduated from DePauw University with degrees in communication and Spanish in 2019.
