Fire damages industrial plant in Winchester

An industrial plant in Winchester sustained damage after a fire Thursday night.

Fire crews were called to Contech Engineered Solutions on Tech Drive at about 6:40 p.m. and were still on the scene at about 9:30 p.m.

“There’s quite a bit of structural damage,” said Battalion Chief William Puckett of the Clark County Fire Department.

The Winchester Fire Department, Clark County Fire Department and Lexington Fire Department all responded to the fire.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire was still unknown, but Puckett said the fire seemed to have started around a large piece of machinery.

Contech’s Winchester plant does steel work. The company’s website says the plant has 160,000 square feet and can hot-dip galvanize large pieces of steel to protect against rust and corrosion.
