8-foot-long boa constrictor found safe after going missing in Clark County

An 8-foot long boa constrictor that went missing in Clark County last week has been found, according to a Facebook post by the snake’s owners.

The snake, Kia, was reported missing on Thursday in a Facebook post by Melissa Cartwright on the page Lost and Found Pets of Winchester, Kentucky. On Sunday, she updated the post to say the snake had been found and was back home and safe.

The snake previously went missing in Lexington in July 2022. She was found crossing Williamsburg Court and put up for adoption by the Lexington Humane Society.

Wes Cartwright told the Herald-Leader on Saturday that his family adopted the boa, which was initially named William. He said the family renamed the snake Kaa, after the character in “The Jungle Book,” until it was determined to be a female, and they renamed it Kia.
