Man, 24, found in burning vehicle in Lexington was slain

A 24-year-old man found inside a burning vehicle was slain, the Fayette County coroner said Friday.

Joseph Trevor Dilger died at 8:45 p.m. Sunday on Redd Road at Elkchester Road, the coroner’s office said. The cause of death won’t be released, but the death was a homicide, the coroner’s office said.

Dilger’s body was found when firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire. Firefighters were called about 8:14 p.m.

The initial call was from by a witness who said he heard a commotion outside, went out to see what was happening and found the vehicle on fire.
