Plant-based food was in the spotlight at Lexington’s first Veg Fest on Oct. 1.

Vendors were selling everything vegetarian and artisan, from bread to beef jerky to specialties sodas, and Bluegrass Farmers market was offering a variety of fruits and vegetables.

In addition, there were speakers, cooking demonstrations, yoga sessions and live music.

“We had a medical doctor and a dietician talking about benefits of plant-based food,” said Katya Trent, a local health coach and organizer of the festival. “There are so many reasons why plant-based food is the best for our health and our environment as well.”
