Curious Edge Foundation educating parents during National Dyslexia, ADD/ADHD month; it will hold open house on Wednesday

The Curious Edge Foundation will hold an open house from 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at 401 Lewis Hargett Circle, Suite 120, to give parents an opportunity to get feedback about any learning issues their child may be having and to learn about diagnostic screenings, evaluation, intervention and therapies that are available.

October is National Dyslexia and ADD/ADHD month, and the Curious Edge Foundation wants to educate parents on the signs of a language-processing disorder: delayed speech, chronic ear infections, difficulty learning to tie shoes, difficulty rhyming, letter or number reversals, poor spelling, dread of going to school, taking a long time to complete homework, and behavioral/attention challenges.

“We believe education begins with good speech and language skills,” said Kimberly Hudson, president and CEO of the Curious Edge Foundation. “Dyslexia and ADHD can impact all types of students, whether they are gifted or struggling learners.”
