Lexington council members sworn in
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council was sworn in Sunday at the city’s new Senior Center on Richmond Road.
The oath was administered to 11 district members by Fayette Circuit Chief Judge Pamela Goodwine. Mayor Gray spoke at the ceremony as did Vice Mayor Steve Kay.
District 2 Council member Sasha Love Higgins was the only new council member sworn in. With Sasha’s election, the council maintains its eight women majority.
Returning council members include: James Brown, District 1; Jake Gibbs, District 3; Susan Lamb, District 4; Angela Evans, District 6; Jennifer Scutchfield, District 7; Fred Brown, District 8; Jennifer Mossotti, District 9; Amanda Mays Bledsoe, District 10; Peggy Henson, District 11; Kathy Plomin, District 12. Fifth District Council member Bill Farmer will be sworn in at a different time.
