Grieving couple launches foundation to help others suffering infant loss
When Jordan and Dion Sanders suffered a stillbirth, the pain was nearly unbearable, especially after a long battle with infertility and miscarriage, but they are turning their pain into compassion for others with the new Amiah Mae Foundation.
The Sanders, both educators, have been married for nearly five years and live in Lexington with 10-month-old Elijah, Amiah Mae’s twin.
On Thursday, the foundation will host its inaugural fundraising event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Signature Club at Lansdowne, 3256 Lansdowne Drive, to support the Perinatal Bereavement Center at Baptist Health Lexington.
The event will feature food, drinks, live music entertainment, children’s activities and a silent auction. Tickets are $25 for adults; $15 for ages 10 and older; ages 9 and younger are free. Tickets include a meal from City BBQ and a foundation T-shirt. For more information, visit Amiahmaefoundation.com.
