The Great Amazing Race returns to Lexington
The Great Amazing Race, a family-friendly event at Shillito Park, is returning to Lexington at 5 p.m. Aug. 5.
During the race, teams of two people (adults and kids grades K-12) complete a 1.5 mile cross-country course dotted with up to eight outdoor activities. Clue cards provided at each station instruct teams to complete a challenge (task, obstacle, relay) before advancing to the next station.
The race is open to everyone, from kids to grandparents. Participants can choose either the recreation or competitive course and should be prepared to get dirty and wet.
The race partners with the Max Cure Foundation, which has raised more than $2 million dollars to fight pediatric cancer. Teams that donate two pairs of used sneakers will receive a free 2-minute time eraser token. Local schools, teams and clubs may use the race as a fundraiser.
Tickets, available online at Greatamazingrace.com, are $50 per team. Participants may also sign up the day of the race for $60 per team. Discounts are offered for teachers, military and first responders.
