Speedboat tours of Kentucky River in Sept.
Liberty Hall Historic Site in downtown Frankfort has teamed with Rockin’ Thunder Jet Boat Tours and Blue Wing Landing Inn to offer 68-mile Kentucky River tours Sept. 26-28.
The day will begin at Liberty Hall with tea and cake, followed by a tour of the 1796 house. Guests will then board a 35-foot covered jet boat. Rockin’ Thunder is the first commercial passenger vessel built to run between Frankfort and the Ohio River in more than 100 years.
On the cruise down river, passengers will pass through two locks built in 1838 and hear stories about the river’s rich history along the way. Arriving at Blue Wing Landing Inn, guests will enjoy a catered meal and hear live music. Tours of the restored Gothic-Revival plantation, built in 1850 by Mason Brown as a summer home, will be given.
The river tours are limited to 20 guests per day. They begin at 8:30 a.m. and return to Frankfort around 5 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the preservation and operation of Liberty Hall historic site. To reserve a spot, go to Libertyhall.org. or call 502-227-2560.
