Military Officers Association of America will meet Sept. 22

The Bluegrass Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will meet at noon Sept. 22 at Equestrian Woods Country Club, 107 Clubhouse Drive. Charlane Gathy, executive assistant to the director of the Lexington VA Medical Center, will be the featured speaker. The meeting is open to all military officers — active duty, reserve and retired — and their guests. To attend, contact Pat Jones at 859-271-2606, or email ppatcatfan@aol.com. A buffet lunch will be available for $17.

▪  Bassmaster Elite Angler Bradley Roy and USA Cares, a nonprofit organization supporting military families in crisis, will present the 2nd Annual Stars & Stripes Bass Open at Lake Cumberland in Central Kentucky from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Burnside State Park Ramp in Burnside.

A $3,000 grand prize is guaranteed to first place; additional places will be determined for every 10 boats registered. Tournament proceeds will benefit USA Cares and their veteran and military family assistance programs. Early registration is $100, increasing to $110 during the week of the tournament.
