Updated: Police, fire department’s non-emergency phone lines aren’t working
UPDATED: The city announced at about 10 p.m. that the non-emergency phone lines are now working. People should call police at 859-258-3600 for non-emergency police matters.
The city is having problems receiving non-emergency calls to its E-911 Center, the police department said Friday night.
“Windstream service for Lexington’s non-emergency public safety phone lines (258-3600 for police and 231-5600 for fire) is currently unavailable. Calls to 911 are not affected by this service interruption,” the police department said in a release. “Until the issue with the non-emergency lines is resolved, residents may call 911 or submit an online police report.”
The city said its employees and Windstream are trying to fix the problem, but they do not know how long it might take.
