Tickets go on sale Friday for Cirque du Soleil’s Lexington production of ‘Corteo’
The critically acclaimed Cirque du Soleil is returning to Lexington in April for five performances of its newest production, “Corteo.”
Rupp Arena will host Cirque du Soleil for five performances April 27 to 29. Tickets, priced at $39 and higher, will be available starting at 10 a.m. Friday at Cirquedusoleil.com/corteo.
“Corteo” is a “theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and Earth,” according to a statement from Cirque du Soleil. The premise of “Corteo” is a festive parade imagined by a clown.
Its cast includes 51 acrobats, musicians, singers and actors from all over the world, according to the statement.
Cirque du Soleil, which rose to fame in the 1990s, first visited Lexington in 2014 for a Michael Jackson-inspired performance.
“Corteo,” which means cortege in Italian, premiered in Montreal in April 2005 and has been performed in 64 cities in 19 countries.
