Bryan Station student charged after marijuana, unloaded gun found
A Bryan Station High School student was charged with trafficking of marijuana and unlawful possession of a weapon on school property Friday, principal James McMillin said in an email to families Friday.
The student was in possession of marijuana, large amounts of cash and an unloaded handgun and will be referred to the juvenile court system, the letter said.
School officials received a tip, he said.
“With assistance from the Fayette County Public Schools Department of Law Enforcement, we conducted an investigation and are confident that the student did not have any intent to use the weapon and did not have it because of any situation related to school,” McMillin said. “There is no tolerance for drugs or weapons on our school campuses and the student will face serious administrative consequences through the school district.”
“The results of this investigation were concluded quickly thanks to students, staff and community members that defend Station daily. ...this event is the perfect example of how a community should rally around its school to ensure a safe learning environment,” McMillin said.
