Here’s how the UK student with meningitis patient is doing.

The University of Kentucky student diagnosed earlier this week with bacterial meningitis continues to improve, according to the school.

The student, whose identity has not been disclosed, remains at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital but is no longer in intensive care, the university’s spokesman said.

“The student and her family appreciate the outpouring of prayers but ask for privacy at this time as she continues her recovery,” a statement from the university said.

Earlier this week, the university said the dorm where the student lives was cleaned and those who were in close contact with the individual have been given the proper antibiotics. There have not been additional meningitis cases at the school.

The university was made aware of the infected student Monday and alerted campus at via Twitter at 5:07 p.m.

There are typically around 4,000 bacterial meningitis cases a year in the country, a UK representative said Tuesday.
