Lexington police search for teenage shooting, robbery suspect

Lexington police are searching for an 18-year-old man who they say was involved in two robberies, including one in which a man was shot.

Trey Whitaker-Blackburn has an active warrant for his arrest for robbery and assault stemming from an Aug. 2 shooting on Chelsea Woods Drive. A man was wounded in the leg, police said.

Whitaker-Blackburn and three others were identified as suspects, police said. Two of the suspects have been located. A 16-year-old was charged with robbery and assault, and 18-year-old Daelin Edwards was charged with robbery, police said. In addition to Whitaker-Blackburn, police were searching for a 17-year-old.

Whitaker-Blackburn has also been identified as one of two suspects in a Tuesday robbery on Bowie Drive, according to a police news release. The victims were robbed of cash and firearms by Whitaker-Blackburn and 18-year-old J’mari Taylor, who was arrested Friday and charged with robbery, police said.
