How great would it feel to defeat Duke twice in one night? You can help.

Nov. 6 is going to be a long day, Kentucky.

Polls open at 6 a.m. for the Kentucky general election. Polls close at 6 p.m. — just in time for you to grab some dinner before watching the highly anticipated top-five matchup of UK-Duke while you simultaneously keep tabs on election results.

On this marathon of a day, the Herald-Leader wants you to show off your UK spirit at the polls and throughout Election Day in our #VoterByDayWildcatByNight challenge. Send us a video or photo as you rock blue and white after casting your ballot, donning “I Voted” stickers or working polling places.

We will be facing off against our sister paper, The News & Observer in Raleigh, which represents the Duke side of the rivalry. Their hashtag will be #VoterByDayCrazieByNight, if you wish to spy on the enemy throughout the day. The hashtag with the most participation by midnight wins the challenge.

Here are the challenge rules and how you can help us beat Duke (or at least the Duke fans).

  • Only photos and videos submitted on Nov. 6 will count.
  • Any UK fans can participate! Whether you are in Lexington or a Wildcat in a different state, as long as you vote, you are a #VoterByDayWildcatByNight.
  • Photos, videos must be submitted on social media using the hashtag #VoterByDayWildcatByNight
  • Twitter: post your photo, video with the hashtag from a public Twitter account
  • Facebook: reply to our Facebook post, which will go live early Election Day, with your photo. No other Facebook photos will be accepted.
  • Instagram & Instagram Story: Use the hashtag on your public Instagram page. Or, post to IG story with the hashtag AND tag @kentuckycom. You must tag us for us to see it!

We will keep you all updated throughout the day on our tally versus Raleigh’s, so get your friends involved. More importantly, get out and vote.
