Police want help after bicyclist killed in Lexington hit-and-run

Lexington police are asking for the public’s help in finding out who struck a bicyclist that died Sunday from his injuries.

The coroner’s office said Tuesday that John V. Oliver died Sunday at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after he was struck early Saturday while riding a bicycle on North Limestone between Templeman and Constitution streets.

He was found about 2 a.m., police said. The driver fled the scene, police said.

Oliver died from blunt-force trauma, according to the the coroner.

Police do not have a description of the vehicle involved. If anyone witnessed the collision or knows of a vehicle with suspicious damage, he or she can contact Lexington police’s Collision Reconstruction Unit at 859-258-3663.

After asking for the public’s help Tuesay morning finding family members of Oliver, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said Tuesday afternoon relatives have been located.
