A gun was found on a bus full of kids and Lexington police want to know why
Lexington police are investigation how a gun was left on a bus that was taking kids to an after-school program.
Parents of students who attend an after-school program at Whitaker YMCA in the Hamburg area received an email about the incident on Wednesday, according to WKYT.
The email said two students riding a bus from a local elementary school to the YMCA found a gun in or around a seat and told a YMCA staffer who took the gun and notified the driver, the station reported.
Community Action Council, a nonprofit, operates the bus and employs the driver.

The bus driver was placed on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation, the statement said. The gun was not discharged and there were no injuries.
