A popular Lexington dog park is temporarily closing

The Jacobson Dog Park closed Wednesday so the city can make needed repairs.

The city said in a news release Tuesday evening that the park will temporarily close so that grass can be reestablished in the “well-used dog park.”

The city said the abundance of rainfall in recent weeks has left the eight-acre dog park at Jacobson Park on Richmond Road very muddy. The weather will determine when the dog park reopens.

The city has other dog parks at other city parks including Coldstream, Masterson Station, Wellington, Pleasant Ridge and Phoenix parks.

“We want everyone to have an enjoyable experience while visiting our dog parks,” Monica Conrad, the city’s director of Parks and Recreation, said in the release. “We need a temporary closure so we can give this area the attention it deserves.”
