UK students raise record-breaking $2 million at DanceBlue for pediatric cancer support
More than 900 University of Kentucky students learned Sunday night that they successfully raised a record-breaking $2 million for children’s cancer research.
The fifteenth annual DanceBlue dance marathon raised a total of $2,000,190.20 for the Golden Matrix Fund, according to the university.
DanceBlue is a year-long fundraising effort that culminates in a 24-hour-long dance marathon. From 8 p.m. Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday, the students danced without sitting or sleeping to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer patients at the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic.
Since the first event in 2006, DanceBlue has raised more than $17,302,043.43 for cancer research and support for patients and families, according to the university.
Last year, students raised $1,880,954.88.
