Watch a downtown high-rise, with help from Tom Petty, pay tribute to healthcare workers

As a way to lift spirits and thank health care workers during the coronavirus outbreak, iHeart Media and City Center have teamed up to launch a music and light show on the downtown Lexington office tower on the corner of South Limestone and Main Street.

The inaugural show was launched last weekend. The lights are currently timed to Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down,” which can be heard on iHeart Media radio station 100.1 WKQQ-FM.

But organizers caution people not to come downtown to see the show. Instead, the music and light show can be watched at 9 p.m. from the safety of people’s homes on the WKQQs web site.

A new show, designed by lighting designer Ross Boggess, will premiere every week with a different song.
