Lexington police investigating Winchester Road hit-and-run that killed teen

An investigation is underway after a Lexington teen was killed in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning.

Darius Lee Mason, 19, was pronounced dead at 6:55 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Winchester Road and Fortune Drive, according to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. Responders were first called to the intersection at 5:49 a.m.

Mason was on foot when he was hit by a vehicle, according to the coroner’s office. His cause of death was ruled as multiple blunt force trauma.

Lexington police are investigating Mason’s death as a hit-and-run, according to the coroner’s office. As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been reported.

An autopsy will be conducted in Frankfort, according to the coroner’s office.
