A Lexington house fire left a woman with life-threatening injuries Wednesday.

The Lexington Fire Department responded to the fire in the 1200 block of Winburn Drive just after 2 a.m., Battalion Chief Jordan Saas said. Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the front of the home, he said.

There was one person trapped inside, Saas said. Crews recovered the victim who was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, he said. There was another person inside who escaped the home and didn’t need to be taken to the hospital, Saas said.

The fire caused moderate to significant damage to the home, Saas said.

The fire was extinguished less than 15 minutes after crews arrived, Saas said. The origin of the fire is currently under investigation.
