Visitation and funeral set for Carol Barr, wife of U.S. Rep. Andy Barr

Funeral arrangements have been set for Carol Barr, the wife of U.S. Rep. Andy Barr. She died unexpectedly Tuesday night at their Lexington home at age 39.

Milward Funeral Directors said Thursday that visitation will be held at Christ Church Cathedral, 166 Market Street in Lexington, on Sunday, June 21, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The couple married June 21, 2008. They have two daughters, Eleanor and Mary Clay.

The funeral will be held at Southland Christian Church, Lexington Campus, 2349 Richmond Road on June 22 at 11 a.m., with a private family burial at the Lexington Cemetery to follow.

Due to COVID-19, the family says social distancing, masks and other standards of protection will be required at both visitation and the service.

There will be live streaming of the funeral on Monday at https://youtu.be/qb5hTsfUvWk for those who feel uncomfortable or at risk of attending.

Friends and admirers may send memoriams to The American Heart Association, 354 Waller Ave. #110, Lexington, Kentucky 40504.

A preliminary autopsy report said Carol Barr likely died of a heart condition.

She grew up in Georgetown, got a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Kentucky in 2002, worked in sales for Pfizer and was executive director of the Henry Clay Center for Statesmanship.

She also volunteered her time with the Lexington Junior League and the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information National Advisory Board.
