Elderly man dies in Lexington crash. Police unsure if medical issues caused accident

An elderly man is dead after a single-car crash occurred Sunday evening, Lexington police said.

The crash happened before 4:30 p.m. in front of a residence in the 1100 block of Cooper Drive, between Tates Creek and Chinoe roads, Lt. Chris Van Brackel said. The victim crashed into a light pole, Van Brackel said. He was the only person involved, Van Brackel said.

“At this point, we don’t know if he had a medical event and that caused him to hit the pole, or if something else occurred,” Van Brackel said.

Police were unsure of the man’s age, but he was older, Van Brackel said.
