Lexington Legends will celebrate championship win at Halloween parade Sunday night
Lexington will roll two celebrations into one at the city’s annual Halloween parade Sunday night.
The Lexington Legends, who won the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball championship Tuesday, will lead the parade.
“We want to recognize them for bringing yet another championship back to the Bluegrass,” Mayor Linda Gorton, who will join the Legends at the parade, said in a news release. “I know our residents are excited to see them Sunday, and celebrate together as a community.”
This is the Legends’ first season in the independent league. They won back-to-back South Atlantic League championships in 2018 and 2019, as well as in 2001, their first year as a team.
The Halloween parade, which will also feature costumed characters, floats and performers, starts at 6:30 p.m. on Main Street between Quality and Mill streets. It will be followed by the annual Thriller Parade at 7 p.m.
