Former UK women’s basketball coach to host Christmas concert in December
Former UK women’s basketball coach Matthew Mitchell will host a Christmas concert titled “Coach Mitchell Presents Christmas in Kentucky” on Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at the Lexington Opera House.
Mitchell will perform with the Coach Mitchell Band. The group recently recorded a Christmas album that will be released on Nov. 1.
“What better way to get in the Christmas spirit than by singing some holiday classics and raising money for a good cause? Jenna and I are so excited for this special night and raise much-needed funds to help the students in Fayette County,” Mitchell said in a press release. “This night will combine two of my favorite things in Christmas music and helping this amazing community that has given our family so much. I hope everyone will join us to have a good night and help the youth of our community in the process.”
Tickets to the show go on sale Thursday at 10 a.m. Tickets can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com and lexingtonoperahouse.com or through the Lexington Opera House box office at (859) 233-3535.
Prices range from $25 to $50 for tickets. All proceeds from the concert will be given to Fayette County Public Schools in partnership with the Blue Grass Community Foundation in hopes of benefiting character and leadership development among students.
Holiday merchandise will also be made available at the show, with those proceeds also going to FCPS.
