Fire causes ‘significant damage’ to garage, heat damage to a home in Lexington

A structure fire caused “significant damage” to a garage and additional heat damage to a Lexington home Sunday morning, according to the Lexington Fire Department.

Firefighters were dispatched to Gleneagles Drive for a reported fire just after 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Firefighters found “a lot of fire” coming from a detached garage at a residence, Battalion Chief Jordan Saas said.

No one was hurt in the fire, but it caused “minor heat damage” to a nearby house which caused vinyl siding to melt on the home, Saas said.

A fire investigator responded to the scene after the fire was put out, Saas said. The origin and cause of the fire were under investigation. Fire officials were still on scene Sunday afternoon.
