Photos & video: Lexington crowd enjoys extra fun as holiday lights turn on downtown

Residents gathered in downtown Lexington Sunday night for the Luminate Lexington festival during which Santa lit the Christmas tree at Triangle Park.

During the event, the first of eight candles on the community menorah was also lit.

“Lexington will shine bright with the spirit of the season,” Lexington Mayor Linda Gordon said before lighting the tree.

The Holiday Lighting Festival included a “letters to Santa” station, take-home crafts, vendor booths, carols, face painting and ice skating.
